I Think Prof. Ben Ayade's Intention With The New Cross River State Logo Is.......

I just read Prof. Ben Ayade's explanation ( read Here if you missed it) for the new Cross River state logo, and i have this to say.

Sir, your intentions are pure and from a good place. Your reason for the change is sound and complete, but i have to say that, this new logo is far from what you are trying to express.

I think it is good to give Cross River state a new outlook. And as you say, times have changed and Cross River has to keep up. But we cannot say because of change, we completely throw who we are out the door!.



We are known for our hospitality, warmth, charm and relaxed nature, which you pointed out but are we to throw all of that away? That's what makes us unique and loved!
So far with all the changes​ you have brought to the state, you did not uproot the old settings you met in place. Instead, you added​ to it. That is the same approach you should have taken with creating a new state logo.

Our core elements retained and the representation of the new objectives you are bringing to the state added to it.

It would have been better if some elements from the old logo were removed​ and a few new things added to it, but still retaining the general look of the old one.

The red should have been incorporated subtly into the old blue logo with the snail removed and replaced with another animal symbol ( if it's very necessary but definitely not a bull ).

And just to call your attention, i don't see a snail in the old logo!!

The colour of our state is and will always remain blue!!. It represents our core nature, our personality. That should have remained the over shadowing colour on a new logo. Then any other addition should be subtle.

The best kind of change is progressive change that comes with adding new things that results in expansion and creates something new.

Addition sir and not complete removal!

I have always said that is the reason my dear Nigeria isn't progressing.
Every leader wants a complete upheaval to the system. It shouldn't be so!

We have to learn to build in a forward direction. It is democracy after all. Leaders change faster than we can blink.

You are currently building on the old, same should go for the logo as well.

There is great disparity between this new logo and what you intended for it to represent.

Send your graphics designers back to work let them come up with something new that represents Cross River as a whole and your goal for the state.
