The kitten which belongs to reddit user yungDemon, has never experienced a thunderstorm before got very scared as lightening struck near their California home. 

 'The cat 'is new to the world,' wrote YungDemon, 'so this was its first rain and thunder ever!'

Fortunately, the cat had a friend around to help.

When her owner got home, he found the Kitty tucked safely under the paw of his roommate's dog.

From the photos, the dog seems a little scared too but she selflessly puts her feline friend first.

At some point, the dog gets so scared, it starts to freak out, but all the while, she never removes the kitty from her protective hold.
