These were the disgusting scenes after a plane allegedly dropped human waste mid-flight, covering a 16th birthday party in poo.

The event was ruined when poo rained down, covering the garden.

More than 40 guests were left horrified when human waste suddenly fell from overhead, just minutes after they had cut the birthday cake.

Kirstie Rogy, a guest at the party in Pennsylvania, told WNEP News: "We just got done with the cake, thank God we took the cake back in, because within two minutes, something fell from the sky.

"It was brown, it was everywhere, it got on everything."

A canopy set up in the yard helped to shield some of the guests from the faeces.

The family now believe the human waste was dropped from a plane flying overhead.

They have identified five planes that were in the area at the time.

Regulations require planes to dispose of waste at an airport.

The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) is investigating the incident.
