TEN YEAR OLD SEEKS HELP FOR HEART SURGERY

Please help if you can..

Have you ever watched children play around your neighbourhood? Can you recall how the boys among them play their games?  Unfortunately, some children like 10-year-old Abdurrahman Alabi have never experienced such and may never experience it if nothing urgently is done to salvage his failing heart.

Since his birth, he has suffered from one illness to another which has affected his growth.  At 10, Abdulrahman looks like six -year -old child. No thanks to the ailment which medical doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH has diagnosed to be congenital heart diseases, medically known as Tetralogy of Fallot.

A medical report from LASUTH signed by a Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. B.A Animashaun,  stated that Abdul Rahman requires urgent life  saving corrective surgery to live a normal life like any other child of his age.

The boy is said to have been suffering from birth. His  parents said he managed to walk when he was almost three years.  Apart from the heart defect, he has speech problem and also confirmed Down Syndrome symptoms.

It was at LASUTH he was diagnosed of heart problem with symptoms of Down Syndrome.”

Since diagnosis, he has been on drugs, the cost of which is alos a struggle to cope with.

“Presently, our problem is compounded as the drug he is on is difficult to obtain. The last time we bought, the tablets were counted across the counter. He is on Propanadol 10mg, but we  bought that 40mg and break it into four pieces.”

Praying for divine intervention Musliudeen said the cost of the  surgery is beyond his capacity as a self employed, Arabic teacher.

“I am appealing to all Nigerians, notably the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola to help rescue my son from certain death. I beg you all to assist me financially in taking care of this boy’s heart problem. I believe he has a bright future.

He is intelligent and if given  opportunity of this surgical correction there will be better improvement in his life.”
